DESIGN FOR CHANGE is the largest global movement designed to give children an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world and put them into action.

It celebrates the fact that children are not helpless, that change is possible and they can lead that change!

 

Children and their teachers are learning through Design for Change that “I Can” are the two most powerful words a person can believe in. Children who have discovered this are changing their world.

 

Design for Change equips children to be aware of the world around them, believe that they play a role in shaping the world, and take action towards a more desirable, sustainable future.

 

To recognise children not only for their academic achievements but also for being socially aware and be proactive change agents in their community.

 
Harvard accredited Education Method

The Good Project, a research initiative under Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education, has reaffirmed the impact of the DFC curriculum on the development of skills like collaboration, creative thinking & empathy. 

Top 100 Innovative Education Project

Design for Change has made it to the Top 100 for K-12 education innovation list per hundrED, a Finnish organization that recognizes impactful educational programs globally.

Signed a Collaboration with OIEC

Design for Change signed a collaboration with the International Organization of Catholic Schools - that takes Design for Change to over 240,000 schools worldwide, and the Scholas Occurrentes - the organization that the Pope established in 2001.

One of the Action Steps for Global Goals

Design for Change was being mentioned on the Global Goals Website and recognized as one of the action steps to reach the 17 Global Goals that committed by the World Leaders in the next 15 years.

 

Our Founder - Kiran Bir Sethi

Kiran Bir Sethi is the Founder / Director of The Riverside School in Ahmedabad, India. She is also the founder of 'aProCh' —an initiative to make our cities more child friendly, for which she was awarded the Ashoka Fellow in 2008. In 2009, she received the "Call to Conscience Award" by the King Centre at Stanford.In 2009, she founded 'Design for Change' (DFC) - the world's largest movement of change - of and by children. DFC is now in 60+ countries—impacting over 2.2 million children and 65,000 Teachers.

 

She has won numerous awards including the prestigious INDEX – Design to Improve Life Award in 2011, Rockefeller Foundation Youth Innovation Awardin 2012, Patricia Blunt Koldyke Fellowship 2013 from the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Design for Change was declared Lego Foundation's Reimagine Learning Challenge Champion in 2014. Awarded as Top 10 Educators for the Global Teacher Prize, Commonwealth Education Good Practice Award, Asia Game Changer 2015, Excellence in Instructional Leadership Award - 2017. She has also been appointed as Ambassador, Vital Voices, in February, 2017. On 9 th June, she met the Pope in the Vatican to sign an Agreement whereby DFC is being introduced in over 460,000 Catholic Schools across the Globe .

Impact of Design for Change

Design For Change has been conducting continuous studies to reaffirm the impact of the FIDS approach on the holistic development of children. DFC along with The Good Project, a research initiative under Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education conducted a research to study the impact of DFC on developing empathy and problem solving.

 

Research conducted by The GoodWork Project has reaffirmed the impact of the FIDS approach on the development of skills like collaboration, creative thinking, empathy. 

  • That the confidence developed through the project improves academic scores as well

  • That the DFC curriculum provides students with exposure to important student development areas such as empathetic thinking, problem-solving, confidence, etc in the context of DFC's principles

  • That the DFC curriculum is inclusive and can be implemented with success in any context to build empathy in children
